Heirloom Tomato Toast with homemade basil mayo is a perfect late summer meal – simple, fresh and layered with bold flavor.

Ingredients

  • 1 large heirloom tomato
  • 2 slices of sourdough bread
  • ½ cup Basil Mayonnaise
  • salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. PREPARE TOMATO: Core the heirloom tomatoes and slice into ½ inch rounds.
  2. TOAST BREAD: Lightly toast the sourdough bread until crusty but not too golden brown.
  3. ASSEMBLE: Generously spread each piece of bread with half of the Basil Mayonnaise and then layer on 2-3 slices of tomato to cover the bread. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Serve immediately.

Notes

Prep and cook time does not include time to prepare the Basil Mayonnaise.
